About The Position

The Financial Trader at Symmetry Energy Solutions plays a crucial role in the Portfolio Optimization team, primarily responsible for managing positions and risks associated with fixed-priced transactions in the natural gas market. This position involves executing financial contracts, maximizing transaction value while minimizing risk, and providing market fundamentals and quantitative analysis to support the Sales organization. The role requires a strong understanding of gas commodity markets and the ability to present market research to stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or engineering.
• At least 3 years of experience in gas trading or analysis activities.
• Master's degree in finance or quantitative field preferred.
• Knowledge of financial products including natural gas basis and outright Nymex futures.
• In-depth knowledge of risk management tools and analytical skills.
• Experience with data analysis software such as Tableau, Power BI, and Python.

Nice To Haves

• Understanding of commodity option price models and quantitative risk metrics.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and demonstrate good time management.

Responsibilities

• Execute financial contracts for natural gas via exchange and OTC counterparties to manage price exposure.
• Provide forward price curves for natural gas and route external execution based on costs and liquidity.
• Develop and maintain relationships with exchange brokers and validate positions from internal deal capture processes.
• Adhere to Value-at-Risk (VaR) limits and corporate Risk Policy, setting proper liquidity and risk premiums.
• Develop fundamental analysis for better decision-making and present market commentary to customers.
• Track current market value of options and provide input into unique deal structures.
• Ensure all deals are entered by risk control deadlines and reconciled to daily risk control reports.
