About The Position

The Financial Technician position at Idaho State University (ISU) involves a comprehensive role in analyzing, researching, forecasting, and reconciling complex financial documents. The incumbent will ensure compliance with relevant laws, rules, and policies while performing related financial duties. This role requires a broad knowledge of the organization's programs and financial requirements, which is essential for preparing, reconciling, and balancing financial transactions effectively. In this position, the Financial Technician will be responsible for specific financial tasks such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, budgeting, and maintaining journals. The incumbent will identify and correct errors and discrepancies, determine cost allocations, and maintain logs, ledgers, and journals. Additionally, they will develop ad hoc reports, work spreadsheets, and other financial documents as needed. The role may also involve compiling and preparing budget data and monitoring cash balances, as well as recommending and designing bookkeeping-type record systems and implementing approved changes. The Financial Technician will review, complete, and process financial documents, ensuring their compliance with laws, regulations, and policies for approval or recommended approval. They will determine and assign liability, penalty, and interest, and resolve disputes as necessary. Experience in using computer systems to retrieve, enter, and edit financial data is crucial, as some incumbents will deal extensively with business representatives and the general public to identify and resolve non-routine issues involving laws and regulations.
