About the position

The Financial Systems Analyst at American Express plays a critical role in the Financial Reporting Quality Assurance Organization (FRQA), focusing on the Regulatory Reporting Automation program. This position involves defining, gathering, and analyzing financial data to support regulatory reporting platforms, ensuring data quality and compliance with regulations. The analyst collaborates with various stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical specifications and implements data management strategies to enhance regulatory reporting efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data needs for regulatory reporting.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications for data solutions.
  • Support development and implementation of data management strategies for Regulatory Reporting Data Domain (RRDD).
  • Design and maintain RRDD data models to support regulatory reporting.
  • Partner with business, upstream, and Technology teams to implement data solutions for regulatory reporting.
  • Monitor and optimize data systems for performance and efficiency.
  • Conduct data analysis on existing processes and datasets to support Point of Arrival (POA) process designs.
  • Develop executable data querying algorithms using SQL to validate data conformity and expected data system functionality.
  • Identify business requirements and develop functional requirement documentation for new data sources and attributes.
  • Document and understand core components of solution architecture including data patterns and standardization of datasets.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of work experience in Data Sourcing and Analytics.
  • 3+ years of work experience in Banking / Regulatory / Financial / Technology Services.
  • Strong knowledge and working experience in Basel Capital Adequacy regulations.
  • Experience with Python is required.
  • Experienced in Agile delivery concepts or other project management methodologies.
  • Strong SQL / NoSQL and data analysis experience, able to write / understand complex SQL, HiveQL.
  • Experience with Big Data frameworks; Spark, Hive, Hadoop, Flink.
  • Experience with MS Excel, Power Query, and other analytical tools, e.g., Tableau.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Any exposure to US NPR regulations is preferred.
  • Product Management, data migration, data analytics working experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Google Cloud, Big Query, Machine Learning and Data Automation / Visualization techniques is a plus.
