About The Position

The Financial Specialist position at the City of Tucson's Business Service Department is responsible for providing financial oversight of major city-wide programs and comprehensive financial services to large departments. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• Three years of experience preparing financial statements.
• Experience with GAAP and governmental accounting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably Workday.

Nice To Haves

• Active CPA license.
• Experience in governmental accounting focusing on fund financial statements.
• Experience working with financial auditors.
• Knowledge in capital asset/project accounting.
• Experience with grants management.

Responsibilities

• Provides financial oversight of city-wide programs and comprehensive financial services.
• Prepares monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Analyzes new standards set by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
• Reviews, reconciles, and analyzes various general ledger accounts.
• Assists in preparing and compiling supporting audit documents.
• Supervises accounting staff and provides direction and guidance.
• Collaborates with peer finance professionals and various departments.
• Prepares fund procedures and other written accounting and training documents.
