The Financial Specialist is responsible for supporting the financial management and operations of the Credit Union through the maintenance of accounting and financial records and reports; perform a wide variety of general and advanced accounting and finance work under minimal supervision. Responsible for keeping records and accounts accurate and current in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Research and resolve discrepancies and accounting/financial errors. Complete related reports, summaries, and records. Conduct special projects as assigned. Is aligned with and promotes U1 values.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two years of similar or related accounting or bookkeeping experience is required.
  • Experience in and knowledge of general ledgers and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) is required.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting concepts and procedures including account reconciliation.
  • Knowledge of related computer applications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
  • Able to operate general office equipment including 10-key calculator and be able to use PC spreadsheet software.
  • Well organized and detail oriented.
  • Good math skills.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify, research, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in accounting is preferred.
  • Experience with the Fed Reserve, Corporate One, and KeyStone are preferred
