About The Position

Harkcon is seeking a Journeyman Financial Specialist to support travel and expense operations for DHS Science & Technology (S&T). This position is contingent upon contract award and is expected to begin in March 2026. This role is hybrid, but candidates must reside in or be able to commute to the Washington, DC area to support on-site operational and stakeholder needs. Travel funding is not provided.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial operations or travel management
  • Knowledge of FTR; strong analytical, organizational, and customer service skills
  • Ability to obtain an affirmative DHS Suitability determination

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with GSA ETS2 and related travel systems preferred

Responsibilities

  • Administer and support federal travel and financial management systems
  • Review and process travel authorizations and expense reports for accuracy and regulatory compliance
  • Perform quality control reviews to ensure adherence to Federal Travel Regulations (FTR)
  • Serve as a system administrator for travel platforms and generate travel activity reports
  • Provide guidance and customer support to travelers on policies, procedures, and charge card use
  • Support system configuration, testing, and implementation activities
  • Assist with training and outreach related to travel processes and systems
  • Compile documentation and data to support audits, reviews, and reporting requirements
  • Track tasks and deliverables to ensure timely completion
