About The Position

As a Community Center, Texana provides a vital lifeline for individuals who face the challenge of intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD, formerly mental retardation), serious mental illness, and substance use disorders. We are proud to be the expert for mental health, autism and development disabilities in Fort Bend, Austin, Colorado, Matagorda, Waller and Wharton Counties. As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team. Someone who shares our values of collaboration, accountability, respect and excellence. This position will work closely with the financial services team to coordinate financial activities and ensure compliance with all relevant standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial systems, best practices and the ability to lead and mentor a finance team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Minimum of three years of accounting and finance experience
  • Advanced Excel skills

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory experience, with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively
  • Experience in governmental accounting
  • Proficiency in accounting/payroll software, specifically Financial Edge NXT and ADP Workforce

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, including the general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll/benefits.
  • Lead and manage procurement and contract management processes to align with defined guidelines and deliver best value to the Center.
  • Maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
  • Work closely with external auditors for year-end audits.
  • Supervise and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Assist with ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects as needed.
