About The Position

The Oregon Department of Justice’s Division of Child Support (DCS) is seeking to hire a Financial Services Locator (Office Specialist 2) for the Division’s Financial Services team in Salem. In this role, you will play a key role in providing a wide variety of general office support to a child support team that directs, documents, and processes various child support actions. Requirements

  • Two years of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR
  • An associate degree in any field; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Finalists must pass a comprehensive employment reference check and fingerprint-based criminal background check.
  • A driver history check will be included for positions requiring state vehicle driving privileges. Adverse findings will be evaluated to determine eligibility for the position.

Responsibilities

  • State Disbursement Unit (SDU) Locate Suspended Collections: Review the unidentified collections listed on the Suspended Collections List in the child support computer system. Review the logical and physical collection details and the payment image to determine which child support participant the collection should be associated with.
  • Held Disbursements: Use established procedures and information systems to locate current demographic information for Program participants. Update demographic information on the appropriate participant pages within the child support computer system.
  • Documentation: Accurately narrate any actions and information used to associate the collection with a participant.
  • Unclaimed Property Claims Receive requests to reissue escheated funds directly from property owners or through Oregon State Treasury (OST). When a claim is received, review the provided information, and research the request to approve or deny the request as appropriate. Provide the requestor with the results of the request. If a request is valid, update the system as needed to allow for systematic issuance of the escheated funds. Document correspondence and other documentation as appropriate.
  • General Office Support Maintain various attendance records for the team. Take, generate, and distribute meeting minutes as assigned. Assist manager with related duties as assigned. Prepare outgoing mail. Sort and process incoming mail. Pull staff voicemail and distribute as directed.
  • Child Support Records Processing and Customer Service Receive and respond to general inquiries about the status of child support cases as related to the unidentified list or state lands. Provide basic information regarding the Oregon Child Support Program and related programs. Compare, validate, and update data on computerized child support records with other documents, referrals, or computerized case records. Complete a variety of pre-formatted, standardized legal forms from legal referrals on a production basis. Electronically file documents with the courts using Odyssey File and Serve.
  • Confidential Office Support Assist manager with confidential duties. Send staffing emails daily to both the Financial Services team and managers. Maintain confidentiality of all duties assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
