About The Position

Uses professional financial services concepts. Applies organization policies and procedures to resolve a variety of moderately complicated issues. Works on financial services problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. The incumbent is responsible for supporting the financial management through the consistent and accurate execution of recurring financial transactions and controls in a high-volume environment. The position duties include updating financial statements, submitting purchase orders, processing reimbursements, and general ledger verification. This role is essential for ensuring department compliance with all University accounting policies and procedures. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $27.83 - $59.15 (Hourly Rate). Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply specific University-wide accounting and business policies (e.g., UC purchasing policies and guidelines) to ensure transaction compliance and proper internal controls.
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience in a highly decentralized, matrix organization structure, such as a large academic health care/research institution.
  • Working knowledge of financial processes, policies and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of financial data management and reporting systems.
  • Proficiency in the use of spreadsheet and database software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, analytical skills, service orientation, active listening, critical thinking, attention to detail, ability to multi-task in a high-volume environment, organizational skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment and decision making.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
  • Proven ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial data management and reporting systems.
  • Strong proficiency in the use of spreadsheet and database software.
  • Customer Service Skills to provide clear communication and feedback to other staff.
  • Ability to function effectively as a member of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Time Table (Department faculty clinical commitment and academic time tracking management tool) for supporting faculty salary funding calculations and reconciliation.
  • Proficiency in using CILIA (Department finance chart field tracking database) for maintaining the department chart of accounts and correct mission-based fund allocations.
