BLUE ORIGINSeattle, WA
4dOnsite

About The Position

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This role is part of Blue Origin corporate functions, providing centralized support across Blue Origin business unit teams, functions, and locations. We are seeking an analytical, creative, and forward-thinking Financial Reporting Analyst (Level II) to improve the quality, speed, and consistency of insights provided to business leadership. This is a builder role: you will often start with ambiguous questions, imperfect data, and multiple stakeholders, and you will create structure, a point of view, and repeatable, auditable solutions. You’ll combine strong finance/accounting fundamentals with modern analytics, automation, and emerging AI/LLM-enabled workflows (with appropriate controls and human review). Passion for our mission and vision is required! Ability to work full-time on-site is required, and relocation assistance will be provided.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or another highly analytical/technical field.
  • 2+ years of experience in accounting, financial reporting/close, controllership operations, or accounting-adjacent analytics/automation.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP concepts and accounting mechanics (journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals).
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, or other BI languages.
  • Demonstrated experience building repeatable, well-documented analyses and/or automated reporting from large datasets.
  • Hands-on experience building at least one LLM-enabled workflow or AI-assisted automation in a professional or project context, including structured prompting, output review/validation, and awareness of model limitations in high-accuracy environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to technical and non-technical partners.
  • Strong judgment handling sensitive data; audit-ready documentation mindset (controls, evidence, lineage).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Costpoint and/or D365 Finance (reporting, extraction, close processes, migration support).
  • Demonstrated ability to automate or streamline recurring work beyond basic Excel (e.g., Python scripting, advanced queries, workflow automation).
  • CPA, MBA, or advanced degree in finance, accounting, or analytics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Deep knowledge of FP&A processes.
  • Experience with data warehouse architecture and modeling.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Drive accounting efficiency initiatives: identify recurring/manual close and accounting workflows (JEs, reconciliations, roll-forwards) and redesign them for speed, quality, and auditability.
  • Build and implement automation using Excel/SQL (and Python where appropriate) and approved tooling to reduce cycle time and error rates (e.g., automated tie-outs, exception reporting, standardized JE support packages).
  • Develop controlled AI/LLM-enabled workflows to accelerate accounting and close deliverables with documented controls, traceability, and human-in-the-loop review.
  • Create and maintain accounting-focused financial reporting that ties to the GL and agreed sources of truth (close dashboards, variance/flux reporting, account trend reporting).
  • Mine and reconcile data across systems; improve data quality through root-cause analysis and upstream fixes with process owners.
  • Build and maintain repeatable, versioned analysis assets (queries, datasets, templates/models) with documentation and clear data lineage.
  • Support the Costpoint → D365 transition by defining reporting requirements, validating/tie-out outputs, and improving post-migration close/reporting workflows.

Benefits

  • Benefits include: Medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program.
  • Paid Time Off: Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays.
  • Dependent on role type and job level, employees may be eligible for benefits and bonuses based on the company's intent to reward individual contributions and enable them to share in the company's results, or other factors at the company's sole discretion.
  • Bonus amounts and eligibility are not guaranteed and subject to change and cancellation.
  • Please check with your recruiter for more details.
