About The Position

Mutual of America’s Summer Internship Program provides college students with hands-on corporate experience working with meaningful projects and assignments. Throughout the 8-week program, interns will not only have direct guidance from experienced leaders in their assigned departments but can have the opportunity to attend training classes and planned events with other interns. The Financial Reporting team is responsible for the preparation, accuracy, and quality of Mutual of America’s monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting. The department ensures compliance with U.S. GAAP, statutory requirements, and internal control standards while supporting the company’s regulatory reporting obligations. The team collaborates with Accounting Operations, Investments, Finance, and other internal groups to deliver timely, reliable financial information that supports executive decision‑making. Financial Reporting plays a critical role in maintaining the company’s financial integrity and transparency.

Requirements

  • Only accepting rising Sophomores (grad year May 2029) and rising Juniors (grad year May 2028).
  • Must have a minimum overall 3.4 GPA.
  • Must be able to commute to NYC 4 days a week (Monday – Thursday)
  • Accounting or Finance major, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries with accurate supporting documentation.
  • Prepare monthly financial statement analysis, including account‑level and trend review.
  • Assist in the monthly close process, including data validation and report preparation.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly financial statements (Quarterly Statement) in accordance with regulatory and statutory requirements.
