About The Position

Michigan Medicine is seeking a Financial Manager to join the Medical School Finance team, responsible for managing a diverse financial portfolio of $2.3 billion annually. This role involves leading financial analysts, developing executive analysis and strategy, and ensuring alignment with the strategic goals of the Medical School and Michigan Medicine. The position requires strong leadership skills and a collaborative approach within a cohesive team environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a similar field.
• Five or more years of progressive experience in financial management.
• Two or more years of experience managing financial and budgetary operations.
• Two or more years of experience directly managing a team of three or more employees.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree in Finance, Business, or a similar field.
• Three or more years of experience managing complex financial operations.
• Experience managing financial operations in government and/or healthcare settings.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a key liaison for academic departments regarding finance.
• Lead and provide oversight for all Medical School Administration functions related to finance.
• Support all centers and institutes within the Medical School in financial matters.
• Lead the central finance budget process for all academic departments and ensure timely and accurate budget completion.
• Ensure timely and accurate managerial financial reporting and guide team members in report creation and maintenance.
• Collaborate with the University’s Provost Office on budgetary requests and data submissions.
• Offer support and guidance to executive leadership across Michigan Medicine.
