About the role: The Financial Planning Manager - Americas role is a key enabler of robust data driven decisions through careful planning to lead to better financial outcomes for the business in the region. As a finance planning manager, you will use and enhance advanced analytics methods and models (e.g., predictive, machine learning, simulation, statistical) to improve predictability of the revenue flows in the short, mid, and long term. You will also ensure that methods used are transparent and free from bias. In this role, you will partner with finance and business users to understand requirements and identify opportunities for data driven initiatives and play an active role in the planning cycle. You will also train the rest of the finance organization to understand and improve data quality throughout data production and storage. To be successful in this role, you should possess exceptional storytelling skills to effectively communicate data insights to business leaders. Further, an aptitude and curiosity for understanding business and financial concepts is highly preferred.

  • Drive finance planning processes by effectively using predictive analytics and statistical models : Work closely with stakeholders to understand business models and provide data-driven solutions to drive the revenue forecast.
  • Improve performance-monitoring capabilities for faster sensing and responding.
  • Effectively use current statistic methodology to produce and communicate financial prediction.
  • Participate to the SO&P and short-term forecast meetings and process to drive enrichment and reduce bias in financial planning.
  • Define and scope the finance use cases that can benefit from ML solutions.
  • Drive revenue and OPEX forecast task for Americas in the system: Perform system submission for the entities in scope.
  • Maintain hierarchies that are needed for revenue forecast.
  • Act as system (Onestream) expert for the region.
  • Track KPI’s on predictive analytics such as bias, enrichment power and forecast accuracy.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis and identify new and emerging drivers and KPI’s: Discover new data sources, document them and promote their reuse.
  • Design and maintain data pipelines for more efficient and repeatable data science projects regarding financial planning.
  • Network with domain experts to better understand the business mechanics that generated the data.
  • Collaborate with machine learning scientists to continuously improve and refine model performance (e.g., identifying new data sources, hypothesis testing, feature engineering, model prototyping, analyzing model output and model explainability).
  • Curate and engineer the data from refined stores (i.e., labelling and annotating the data).
  • Use advanced analytics techniques to support strategic decision=making: Apply statistical models and techniques, such as regression analysis, time series analysis and hypothesis testing, to understand financial phenomena and predict future trends.
  • Deliver variance insights and drive visibility on raising trends.
  • Proactively explore data to identify trends, patterns and insights outside of direct business requests.
  • Effectively use tools to manipulate large-scale databases, synthesizing data insights.
  • Drive process improvement through automation and optimization: Continuously evolve processes and tools related to data analysis, visualization and storytelling to improve decision making.
  • Effectively communicate insights to finance stakeholders and senior management: Build reports, dashboards, and visualizations to democratize data insights.
  • Use data storytelling to deliver business insights to improve stakeholder understanding and uptake.
  • Clearly communicate underlying methodologies and decision-making processes of models and algorithms providing more transparency for stakeholders.
  • 5+ years of proven success in a financial planning role.
  • BA in finance, business management or equivalent.
  • Strong formative understanding of statistical and mathematical concepts, theories and applications such as linear algebra, probability theory, calculus, algorithms and data structures
  • Good understanding of algorithms such as linear regression, logistic regression, regularization, decision trees, clustering algorithms etc.
  • Understanding of key concepts in data management, data mining, data analytics, data reporting and quantitative analysis
  • Experience implementing a robust and dynamic forecasting model that incorporates scenario planning capabilities, predictive analytics, and data-driven insights to enhance decision support
  • Proficiency in financial statements concepts and accounting principles (US GAAP)
  • SAP BW/COPA/SD knowledge (user and good grasp of functioning) / Power BI (advanced)/ Onestream (user) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of programming languages is a plus (e.g., Python).
  • Possess strong communication skills for explaining technical concepts in common business terms to a non-technical audience
  • Outstanding storytelling skills to present results to business leaders
