About The Position

AFG is seeking a motivated and organized Financial Planning Associate to collaborate with and support a team of financial planners and advisors. The Financial Planning Associate is responsible for delivering exceptional comprehensive financial planning and investment management services to clients. This position is part of an experienced and knowledgeable team that prides itself on consistently exceeding expectations. This role offers a remote/hybrid schedule, with time spent in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania office during the orientation and training period, as well as for special projects if needed. This position reports to the Financial Planning Manager. A typical day will include a mix of the following tasks:

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university, or two to three years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, initiative, and follow-through.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively work with clients and colleagues both remotely and in person.
  • Ability to quickly become proficient in various client management and financial-related software programs, including eMoney and Holistiplan.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, with particular emphasis on Excel; prior experience creating and modifying spreadsheet formulas and macros is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation or progress toward completion is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Completes financial planning reports and related tasks.
  • Collects, organizes, and analyzes relevant financial information from internal sources and third-party providers to create and update financial planning reports.
  • Reviews, summarizes, and interprets investment assets, trusts, wills, estate and legal documents, retirement plan statements, tax returns, and pay statements.
  • Compiles financial data into spreadsheets and financial planning software.
  • Prepares exhibits and supporting materials for client presentations.
  • Maintains knowledge of current industry issues related to financial and tax planning, investment management, estate planning, and reporting.
  • Analyzes financial planning reports to form logical conclusions based on sound economic principles.
  • Completes analysis and research projects; summarizes findings and requests feedback from advisors and members of the financial planning group.
  • Creates, updates, and maintains organized client paper and digital files as needed.
  • Calculates and enters cost basis information accurately.
  • Confirms the accuracy of portfolio accounting software.
  • Performs data reconciliation and conducts portfolio research to support financial reporting.
  • Assists with the creation, enhancement, and documentation of processes and procedures.
