The position allows for process improvement and streamlining of workflows, providing opportunities to implement best practices in a small, mission-driven, remote-first environment. You will have ownership over end-to-end financial operations, maintaining controls, supporting audits, and generating insights that drive organizational growth. This role is part-time (25–30 hours/week) with the potential to expand to full-time for the right candidate. Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing financial operations in an organization, nonprofit experience preferred
  • Proficiency with accrual-based accounting and GAAP principles
  • Strong skills in Excel and financial reporting tools; experience with platforms like Xero, Gusto, Google Sheets, or Ramp a plus
  • Ability to manage end-to-end financial processes independently
  • Experience creating budgets, reports, and forecasts to support organizational growth
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on process improvement and automation
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with teams across time zones
  • Comfort working in a mission-driven, globally distributed, and remote-first environment

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and expense processing
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with internal policies and GAAP principles
  • Reconcile monthly accounts and prepare detailed financial reports for leadership and funders
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow monitoring to inform strategic planning
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., HR, programs, leadership) to streamline financial processes and optimize workflows
  • Assist in audits and maintain internal controls to safeguard organizational assets
  • Contribute to financial modeling, scenario planning, and long-term planning for potential full-time expansion
