About The Position

The Financial Coordinator is the front-line for all Cancer Center offices and will ensure optimal financial performance for the departments throughout the Cancer Center. The goal is to maximize the likelihood of submitting clean and payable claims while advocating on behalf of the patient, assisting them with accessing as many outside financial services as possible to help minimize the burden of cancer care. This position requires that the Financial Coordinator create a friendly, cooperative impression throughout all interactions with internal and external customers and works independently to prioritize and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Key responsibilities of the Financial Coordinator are insurance verification, pre-certification and pre-authorization, maintaining a database for all major payers' plans and a tickler system in order to re-certify patient's treatments. Patient interaction is an essential part of this position. The Financial Coordinator will work one-on-one with all cancer center patients, helping them to understand their insurance coverage and other available avenues of financial assistance, payment plans, and co-pay assistance programs. Financial Coordinator will provide Medicare required estimates of the cost of patient's prescribed treatment regimen, and meets with the patient to go over out of pocket expenses. The Financial Coordinator is responsible for daily reconciliation of center Superbills, dropping charges, insurance authorizations including TARs, knowledge of all private and government payers, conducting weekly financial chart audits, handling of denials and daily communication with Enloe's Financial Team. Must be able to work independently and also within a team environment. Interacts frequently with clinical, clerical, and billing staff.

Requirements

  • Two years of medical billing or patient access experience.
  • Must have excellent telephone and interpersonal skills to maintain a high degree of rapport with physicians, managers, co-workers, employees, patients and the public.
  • Must consistently maintain a professional demeanor as a representative of the management team.
  • Excellent analytical, grammatical, punctuation, spelling, formatting skills are necessary to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to make independent decisions within established guidelines regarding organization and scheduling of work.
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential.
  • Must be able to follow instructions, maintain confidentiality, work quickly and accurately in a fast paced environment.
  • Must be capable of proficiently using Microsoft Office programs.
  • Must be able to take minutes and transcribe minutes accurately.
  • Must have skills/experience in organizing and coordinating meetings, conferences, conference calls, and multiple schedules.
  • Ability to compile data into a useable report format.

Nice To Haves

  • Hematology Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Infusion Therapy Billing
  • 1 year of Financial Counseling experience in a hospital setting
  • 1 year of pre-registration and/or insurance verification experience in a hospital setting
  • EMR (Electronic Medical Records) Experience
  • Medical and pharmaceutical terminology
  • Data research and report composition
