About The Position

The Financial Investigations Unit Analyst I (FIU Analyst I) is responsible for investigating and reporting a variety of financial crimes including a variety of fraud, identity theft, elder financial exploitation, cybercrime, money laundering, potential terrorist financing, and other potential violations of laws and regulations. Additionally, the FIU Analyst investigates' and processes forged and counterfeit check claims. The FIU Analyst I will be responsible for adhering to strict deadlines including the BSA Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) filing requirements and taking ownership of all assigned duties and responsibilities. The FIU Analyst I is also responsible for complying with BSA/AML regulations, Identity Theft Red Flag Rules, and other applicable regulations. FIU Analyst I: To be successful, the incumbent must have the ability to work in a team environment and be able to communicate verbally and in writing with both vendors and colleagues in a professional and clear manner. The FIU Analyst I must have the ability to follow established procedures and work in a high-volume environment with a high degree of accuracy. The FIU Analyst I must also have excellent organizational skills to prioritize work on multiple tasks and projects and have the ability to utilize personal computers and Windows based programs. FIU Analyst II: To be successful, the incumbent must have the ability to work in a team environment and be able to communicate complex ideas or issues verbally and in writing with both vendors and colleagues in a professional and clear manner. The FIU Analyst II must have the ability to follow established procedures and work in a high-volume environment with a high degree of accuracy. The FIU Analyst II must be able to identify gaps in processes and communicate effectively to management for resolution. The FIU Analyst II must also have excellent organizational skills to prioritize work on multiple tasks and projects.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Undergraduate degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of Fraud/Loss Prevention/BSA/AML experience, or 4+ years of banking/operations experience.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with colleagues of varying levels of expertise.
  • Ability to prioritize job responsibilities.
  • Ability to adapt to new processes.
  • 4+ years of Fraud/Loss Prevention/BSA/AML experience, or 5+ years banking/operations experience.
  • Demonstrates the ability to teach others to accurately perform duties.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or similar certification highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize the Bank's AML/Fraud software to review and disposition alerts and perform financial crimes investigations. Maintain required documentation for investigations.
  • Review various reports for fraudulent items/events including but not limited to Chex Systems, Fraud Finder alerts, Rejected Items, Positive Pay, NSF/Chargebacks, and debit cards.
  • Make account closure recommendations due to AML or fraud related activities.
  • Review daily group emails, Salesforce incidents and compromised information and take necessary action. Work with branch/department personnel when necessary for fraud and compromised information.
  • Investigate suspected financial elder/dependent abuse and submit forms SOC342 to report suspected elder/dependent financial abuse to appropriate Adult Protection Services agencies within the time frame mandated by regulation.
  • Process forgery claims, charge-off requests and prepare indemnification agreements.
  • Initiate fraud mitigation techniques to reach an efficient and expected outcome favorable to the Bank and customer.
  • Initiate account closures due to AML or fraud related activities.
  • Contact law enforcement for matters concerning fraud or AML related events. May assist with providing documentation for law enforcement including but not limited to photo/video requests and SAR documentation.
  • Utilize AML/Fraud software for preparation and input of SARs for fraud or AML related activities for submission. SARs must be accurate and submitted by the required deadlines.
  • Maintains a current understanding of Bank policies and procedures in compliance with all federal and state laws, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act (SARs, CIP, OFAC), Information Security (GLBA), Identity Theft Red Flags, Financial Elder Abuse Reporting, and any other applicable regulations that may be specific to your job duties.
  • Submit ideas and recommendations to enhance existing job aids.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
