About The Position

The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) Investigator (Vice President-Sr Specialist, SAR Investigations II) at BNY is responsible for conducting investigations related to financial crimes, including money laundering and terrorist financing. This role is crucial in mitigating company risk through thorough investigations and reporting of suspicious activities. The investigator will work closely with various departments to ensure compliance with financial regulations and maintain the integrity of the financial system.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
• Graduate Degree in Law, Business, Intelligence Studies, or International Relations preferred.
• 7-10 years of total work experience preferred.
• Experience in AML investigations, particularly in correspondent banking, is preferred.
• ACAMS certification and intelligence work experience in the private or public sector preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working for a financial institution in an AML investigations function.
• Knowledge of financial crimes compliance and regulatory enforcement investigations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct proactive investigations to address money laundering and terrorist financing concerns in alignment with National Priorities from the U.S. Department of the Treasury and FinCEN.
• Analyze complex transactional data and perform in-depth research to decision cases stemming from investigations.
• Draft Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and make recommendations to escalate concerns to internal stakeholders.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of global financial crimes money flows.
• Manage a portfolio of case work efficiently within tight deadlines and in an organized manner.
• Communicate effectively and develop relationships with internal stakeholders on significant investigative matters.
• Apply knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and the USA PATRIOT Act to banking products and services.
