About The Position

The Financial Empowerment Case Manager (FECM) will be part of the newly established “Empowerment Hub” (United We Thrive Center) at the United Way of Rhode Island and will play a key role in supporting families toward financial stability and long-term success. The FECM will utilize a two-generation approach to coach parents and caregivers in advocating for their children’s success in school, while linking families to partner agencies that can address educational and family stability needs. This position combines case management, financial coaching, facilitation, and community outreach to empower families with the tools, resources, and confidence needed to thrive. The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, and committed to promoting economic mobility through hands-on support and data-driven results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • At least 2 years of experience in case management, financial coaching, or related direct service work.
  • Strong understanding of financial empowerment strategies and community resources.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency with case management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and supporting families from diverse backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in English & Spanish.
  • Certification in Financial Coaching or Counseling
  • Experience working with low- to moderate-income families or immigrant communities.
