Requirements

  • Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
  • All new hires will be required to comply with federal ethics laws.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
  • Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
  • If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
  • Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct research projects, and prepare analyses and evaluations of specific developments and proposals relating to taxes.
  • Write memoranda and reports based upon prior economic and statistical studies and draws upon specialized knowledge of the economy, the tax system, and related administrative procedures.
  • Provide written and oral presentations, including briefings, memorandum, reports, and technical papers, to supervisors and other Treasury officials.
  • Analyze proposals such as changes in tax rates, changes in the measurement of taxable income, introduction of alternative tax provisions to modify economic behaviors, and modifications of technical provisions of the Federal tax code and regulations.
