The Financial Data Scientist III maintains and improves various enterprise performance management `and financial reporting systems that enable our users to perform critical financial analysis and statutory reporting. This includes working across the Oracle EPM applications, Oracle Essbase, Dodeca, and Power BI data sets and applications. Data from these systems is eventually relied upon by customers and with respect to Williams, for SEC reporting and analysis, management reporting and analysis, financial planning and forecasting. Financial Data Scientist III Partners with end‑users to understand business intent and translate financial and regulatory reporting needs into scalable solutions (e.g., financial statements, SEC, FERC, expense and capital reporting). Works with adjacent teams to ensure user data requirements are collected and being worked by appropriate technical resources within F&A and IT Proactively identifies data, hierarchy, and process gaps; recommends and implements improvements with an emphasis on reusability and standardization. Supports downstream consumers of financial data used for management reporting, planning, forecasting, and statutory reporting. Provides guidance and informal mentorship to junior team members on best practices, modeling standards, and data governance. Other duties as assigned. Financial Data Scientist II Responsibilities/Expectations: Performs ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting, and incremental enhancements of Oracle EPM and analytics cloud applications. Updates hierarchies, business rules, and logic scripts; monitors workflows and resolves operational issues as they arise. Works directly with end‑users to document processes and data needs related to financial statements, SEC and FERC reporting, and expense or capital reporting. Coordinates with adjacent F&A and IT teams to ensure requests are properly scoped and routed to the appropriate technical resources. Supports data quality, validation, and reconciliation efforts across reporting and planning solutions. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related business field
  • a minimum of three (3) years Financial Modeling and Reporting experience
  • Solid understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and broader financial reporting concepts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and PC skills
  • Proficiency with enterprise reporting, analytics, and automation tools such as Oracle Essbase, Planning, Power BI, Power Automate, and RPA technologies.
  • Ability to organize and manage contribution to multiple project workloads in tandem
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority
  • Strong understanding of GAAP
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and PC skills
  • Strong desire to learn data analytics or data science
  • Familiarity with reporting and automation tools such as Essbase, Planning, Power BI, Power Automate, and RPA technologies
  • a minimum of two (2) years of similar experience

Nice To Haves

  • experience with accounting processes including expense reports, property accounting, and/or project reporting
  • Working knowledge of Databricks concepts, including medallion architecture, SQL, and Change Data Capture (CDC)
  • Some experience working in financial models or accounting processes
  • basic understanding of SQL data transformation processes
