About The Position

THOR Solutions is actively seeking a highly motivated junior-to-mid-level Financial Data Analyst to support a program for the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport (NUWCDIVNPT) in Middletown, RI. The candidate will provide financial analysis and management support, and associated project management services for NUWC Code 25. An ideal candidate will have experience supporting Navy/NAVSEA financial efforts via generating Excel spreadsheets, reports, and pivot tables, as well as experience with Microsoft Power applications (e.g., Power BI, Power Query, and Power Pivot).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related business or technical field.
  • In lieu of a Bachelors degree, additional relevant experience and/or relevant financial/accounting training or certifications may be considered.
  • At least three (3) years of recent, relevant professional experience providing financial analysis and related business/program support.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including the use of pivot tables.
  • Proficiency with common productivity software, including the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • This position requires an existing active or interim Secret security clearance prior to hire. Only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance; therefore, only current U.S. citizens will be considered for this position.
  • A candidate with especially strong, relevant experience but no current clearance may be considered, but a new clearance must be obtained prior to hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel Power Applications, including Power BI, Power Query, and Power Pivot.
  • Some or all experience obtained in a U.S. Navy, NAVSEA, NUWC, or other DoD environment is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Generate, maintain, and deliver various Microsoft Excel financial products including spreadsheets, financial reports, and pivot tables using data extracted from Navy, NAVSEA, and NUWC financial systems including Navy Enterprise Resource Planning (Navy ERP), Automated Funding Document Acceptance (AFDA), Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), and Resource Allocation Planning Tool (RAPT).
  • Develop financial tools including dashboarding using Microsoft Power Applications: Power BI, Power Query, and Power Pivot.
  • Working with other financial personnel, support development and maintenance of project budgets, reports and management plans; track projections within Navy ERP and other systems; and prepare, review, and analyze Funding Documents.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports including expenditure reports and fiscal year close-out and fiscal year start-up analyses.
  • Support general project management functions, including: generating project meeting documents; supporting updates in the Defense Travel System (DTS); entering visit requests in the Defense Information System for Security (DISS); and reviewing timekeeping data in Navy ERP.
