  • Use tools like Alteryx, Data360, or similar to perform data cleansing, enrichment, de-duplication, and reconciliation.
  • Partner with IT to understand data storage locations, schemas, table relationships, and access methods; create/maintain documentation and data dictionaries.
  • Develop robust data validation and reconciliation checks to ensure completeness and accuracy of taxable sales, exemptions, rates, jurisdictions, and filings.
  • Automate recurring data workflows and reporting for compliance, audits, and management insight.
  • Support monthly/quarterly tax return preparation with accurate data extracts and audit-ready support.
  • Investigate and resolve data anomalies, mapping gaps, and system issues affecting tax calculations.
  • Collaborate with Tax, Finance, and IT on system enhancements, source data changes, and process improvements.
  • Create reusable templates, standard operating procedures, and governance controls for tax data.
  • Prepare clear dashboards and reports to communicate trends, risks, and KPIs.
  • Strong data management background with hands-on ETL experience combining multiple data sources into a unified dataset.
  • Proficiency with a workflow/data preparation tool such as Alteryx, Data360, or similar (e.g., KNIME, Talend, Informatica, Power Query).
  • Solid SQL skills for querying, joining, profiling, and validating large datasets.
  • Experience working directly with IT to locate data, understand table structures, and troubleshoot data pipeline issues.
  • Ability to interpret tax-relevant data elements (e.g., product codes, exemption codes, jurisdictions, taxability rules) and how they flow through systems.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills; comfort with large/complex data sets.
  • Excellent communication skills to translate technical data issues for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in transaction taxes is a strong plus but not required.
