About The Position
As a Patient Financial Counselor II at McKesson, you will play a crucial role in facilitating effective communication between patients, infusion site nurses, financial assistance programs, and various practice organizations. Your primary responsibility will be to assist patients in navigating their financial responsibilities related to infusion therapy, ensuring they understand their medical insurance benefits and the available financial assistance programs. This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, advanced computer literacy, and the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. You will be expected to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. In this role, you will be responsible for researching and securing financial assistance programs that can help patients reduce their infusion therapy costs. You will screen patients for eligibility, assist them in applying for pharmaceutical or charitable drug assistance, and identify funding through various financial assistance programs and payment plan options. Additionally, you will manage your work queue to meet departmental standards for productivity and quality, perform follow-up activities on accounts to ensure prompt payment, and negotiate payment plans on patient balance accounts. Your daily tasks will involve communicating with professional medical personnel, responding to customer and patient concerns, and maintaining compliance with PHI and HIPAA regulations. You will also be expected to take personal responsibility for resolving customer service issues and perform other job-related duties as assigned by management. This position is integral to ensuring that patients receive the financial support they need while navigating their healthcare journey.
