About The Position

Responsible for the in-depth and detailed evaluation of patient financial history for both uninsured and underinsured inpatients and outpatients, for the purposes of determining eligibility for State and Federally funded financial assistance programs. Responsible for ensuring insurance authorization for patient services has been obtained/verified, establishes working relationship with all departments of GWUH and contractors, conducts timely follow-up/monitoring of accounts to ensure time frames are maintained according to statue. Requirements

  • Associate degree or Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) certification
  • 5 years of current experience in a hospital registration, Business office and/or Case Management as related to insurance
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and critical thinking skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills and PC and spreadsheet proficiency
  • Strong Service Excellence skills
  • Works well in a stressful environment
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously and work under pressure
