About The Position

The Financial Counselor serves as a vital resource for clients and their families navigating the complexities of insurance eligibility and benefits and providing tailored support to help clients make informed decisions regarding the cost of services. By educating clients about their insurance options, identifying available internal financial resources, and advocating on their behalf, the Financial Counselor not only alleviates financial stress but also enhances client satisfaction and access to services. This role services as a liaison between clients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to ensure that clients receive the necessary care without facing financial hardship.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • One year's experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge of insurance payor rules and regulations.
  • Strong understanding of insurance plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Experience with EHR systems and insurance verification platforms.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, healthcare administration, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Verify client insurance information for accuracy and completeness, resolving discrepancies as needed.
  • Verify insurance for all active clients on the first of each month.
  • Assist clients with applying for financial assistance or other internal financial resources.
  • Perform data entry utilizing Electronic Medical Records for documentation of insurance information with minimal errors.
  • Provide notifications to clients regarding changes to insurance.
  • Determine client financial responsibility based on payor guidelines.
  • Strong knowledge of company procedures and ability to utilize resources in an organized manner.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and exercise discretion when working with coworkers, clients, community partners, and insurance companies.
  • Attention to detail, follow through on tasks, problem solving, troubleshooting, and multi-tasking in a fast-paced and high-volume environment.
  • Ability to discuss personal and financial matters with clients regarding company policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
