About The Position

We’re searching for a Financial Counselor Coordinator, someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you'll be responsible for completing insurance verification on all new admissions assigned by the Manager or Assistant Director, and for ensuring that all assigned inpatient/outpatient visits contain complete and accurate demographic and financial information.   • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 4 years of related experience required

Responsibilities

  • Performs insurance verification, determines primary, secondary, and tertiary payers and follows up on inpatient and outpatient accounts throughout the entire course of treatment as measured by account review and random audits
  • Meets with the family regarding their financial status to determine potential assistance for third party coverage in a timely and sensitive manner. Notation in NA notes demonstrates adherence to responsibility as measured by random audits and account reviews
  • Makes every effort to minimize the loss of reimbursement for both inpatient and outpatient visits by securing coverage prior to or during the patient’s visit as measured by account review
  • Maximizes the efficiency and accuracy of the collection process on scheduled patients. Review of accounts, technical denials or feedback from Patient Accounts, Care Management or other department demonstrates 90-95% accuracy and completeness
  • Participates in the department’s process improvement program in response to the adoption of Continuous Quality Improvement. This is measured by direct observation, meeting minutes, feedback from customers or participants in performance improvement initiatives
  • Provides required documentation in the patient’s chart, including signed forms such as general consent, information release, advanced care directives, and other documents required by JCAHO and other regulatory bodies, and obtains required signatures. This is measured by review of scanned documents, medical record review, audits and feedback from care providers and must be evident in all inpatient admissions
  • Assists with departmental training and mentoring initiatives
  • Actively participates in special assignments, programs, or improvement initiatives with successful outcomes
