About The Position

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Financial Controller in Illinois (USA). This role is a senior finance leadership position responsible for overseeing the organization’s financial operations, reporting, and controls. You will lead the development and maintenance of accounting systems, internal policies, and processes that ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. Acting as a strategic partner to department heads, you will provide insight into budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance, while guiding a small team to achieve operational excellence. The position offers the opportunity to shape financial processes in a fast-growing, innovative, and fully remote environment. Strong analytical skills, GAAP expertise, and hands-on experience with accounting systems are critical. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including at least 2 years in a senior accounting or controller role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and accounting best practices.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with accounting/ERP systems (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, proactive approach, and strong attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with CRM systems such as HubSpot or Salesforce is a plus.
  • Experience with EOS or Scaling Up frameworks is a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and own all monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare, review, and deliver financial statements including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reports.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal accounting controls, policies, and procedures to strengthen financial integrity.
  • Partner with department heads to support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, providing actionable insights.
  • Perform variance analysis (budget vs. actual) and explain key financial trends to leadership.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Drive improvements in accounting systems, reporting tools, and financial KPIs to support scalable growth.
