About The Position

iRoof LLC is a veteran and family owned, full‑service contractor providing integrated roofing, gutter, insulation, and waterproofing solutions to our clients throughout Southwest and Southeast Florida. iRoof is in a heavy growth phase and is hiring a Controller to serve as the most senior staff finance leader and the primary owner of the company’s accounting and financial management. This is a high-impact role responsible for building scalable financial processes, protecting cash flow, strengthening job and service-line profitability, and ensuring the business is compliant as it grows. You will partner closely with ownership and operations to deliver clear reporting, disciplined controls, and actionable insights across roofing, insulation, and gutters.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in accounting/finance with experience as a Controller, Senior Accountant, or similar; construction, roofing, trades, or project-based services experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success with job costing, margin analysis, and cash management in a field-based, project-driven environment.
  • Comfortable as a hands-on, “doer” who can build the function while managing day-to-day execution as the only finance team member.
  • Strong GAAP foundation; strong Excel skills; experience with accounting systems and implementing process improvements.
  • Clear, practical communicator who can translate financials into operational actions; high integrity and sound judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Leadership & Reporting: Own monthly close, financial statements, and management reporting; create clear dashboards and KPIs for leadership (profitability, cash, AR/AP, job performance).
  • Cash Flow Management: Build and manage weekly cash forecasting; drive collections cadence; optimize payment scheduling while protecting vendor relationships.
  • Job Costing & Profitability: Implement or strengthen job costing for labor, materials, subs, permits, and overhead; identify margin leakage and partner with ops to improve gross margin by job and service line.
  • Billing, AR, and Collections: Ensure accurate customer invoicing, deposits, credits, and dispute resolution; maintain tight AR aging and visibility.
  • AP, Purchasing Controls & Vendor Management: Build clean AP processes, approvals, and documentation; maintain supplier terms, compliance documentation, and performance discipline.
  • Compliance, Regulatory, and Tax Oversight: Maintain audit-ready books and internal controls; own relationships with CPA/tax providers; ensure timely filings and support compliance needs related to construction operations.
  • Systems & Process Scale: Own accounting systems and workflows; document SOPs, close checklists, and an approval matrix appropriate for a growing contractor.
  • Leadership Partnership: Provide decision support to ownership and operations on pricing, capacity, hiring cadence, vendor strategy, and growth investments.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary (commensurate with experience) plus performance incentives tied to measurable business outcomes (cash discipline, close quality, margin improvement, and process execution).
  • Systems access, authority to implement scalable controls, and direct partnership with ownership and operations to drive results.
  • Build the finance foundation and grow into a broader finance leadership role as the company scales.
