About The Position

Kforce has a client in Tempe, AZ that is seeking a Financial Controller who will be responsible for planning, coordinating and directing all accounting functions. The Financial Controller will play a critical role in ensuring accuracy and providing strategic insight into the company's financial position. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in multi-entity and/or multi-vertical accounting, financial analysis and leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • 5 +/- years of public accounting experience, with SaaS and/or technology industry exposure in small to mid-sized companies
  • 2+ years of experience managing general ledger systems and leading accounting teams
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting standards
  • Strong technical expertise in Microsoft Excel
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g. Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics F&O, Sage Intacct)
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills
  • Organized, proactive, and able to meet tight deadlines with high accuracy

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or CFA
  • 3 to 5 years of experience at a Big Four accounting firm
  • Experience in an entrepreneurial environment with a high degree of change

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation and analysis of internal and external financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Prepare and complete balance sheet reconciliations and complex journal entries
  • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • Manage the development and review of budgets, forecasts, and variance reports
  • Direct financial reporting processes, including business planning and executive reporting
  • Define and maintain internal controls and enforce accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate standards
  • Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes and reporting tools
  • Manage cash flow including forecasting cash flow needs and alerting upper management of cash flow deficiencies
  • Review company-wide invoices to evaluate the cash flow impact
  • Ensure financial compliance by understanding external reporting requirements, and overseeing the final product being delivered to internal and external parties
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and statutory accounting standards
  • Assist senior leadership in evaluating profitability and assessing financial risk
  • Assist senior leadership with board presentations, projects and ad hoc analysis
  • Support audits and regulatory examinations, coordinating with external auditors and state agencies
