About The Position

EBA Engineering, Inc. (EBA) is seeking a Financial / Contract Auditor to support contract compliance, financial oversight, and audit activities for construction projects. The Financial / Contract Auditor will work closely with project management, accounting, and contract administration teams to review financial records, evaluate contract compliance, and support audit processes in accordance with project requirements. This position is based out of Hanover, MD.

Requirements

  • Experience in financial auditing, contract administration, compliance, project controls, or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and auditing standards.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to prepare clear, accurate documentation and written reports.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Commitment to ethical standards, professional integrity, and company values.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, construction management, engineering, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with public-sector contracts, transportation projects, or large infrastructure programs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate quality records and documentation within the online document control system.
  • Perform financial and contract compliance reviews to determine adherence to construction contract terms, policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Examine financial records, invoices, payment applications, and supporting documentation to verify accuracy, allowability, and proper classification of costs.
  • Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls by verifying compliance with established financial and contract management procedures.
  • Develop construction audit work plans and testing procedures based on contract requirements, prior reviews, and identified risk areas.
  • Review and track change orders, contract modifications, claims, and related financial impacts.
  • Prepare clear, well-documented audit workpapers, findings, and reports, including identification of deficiencies and recommended corrective actions.
  • Participate in construction meetings with internal staff, clients, and stakeholders to discuss audit objectives, findings, and resolution strategies.
  • Maintain accurate financial and audit documentation within the project's document control and financial systems.
  • Support internal and external audits by gathering records, responding to inquiries, and tracking findings through resolution.
  • Adapt to shifting priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Support additional financial or contract-related tasks as needed based on project requirements.
