About The Position

The Financial Clerk-Typist position at Genesee County involves performing a variety of clerical and financial tasks to support the county's financial operations. Requirements

  • A course in typing or experience in typing.
  • Possession of an Associate Degree or higher in accounting, math, business administration, or a related field; OR graduation from high school with a minimum of 62 semester credit hours including 24 in accounting, math, or business administration; OR graduation from high school with two years of full-time experience in financial record keeping.

Responsibilities

  • Enters budget appropriations, expenses, invoices, payrolls, receipts, and voucher records into appropriate systems.
  • Receives remittances, verifies amounts, computes interest and penalties, and enters data into financial records.
  • Assists in maintaining labor, material, and operational cost records.
  • Verifies the accuracy of financial record balances according to prescribed procedures.
  • Types various forms, letters, transcripts, invoices, vouchers, and payrolls.
  • Classifies receipts and expenditures, distributing costs according to a prescribed code.
  • Maintains a variety of records and compiles data for financial and statistical reports.
  • Sorts, indexes, and files requisitions, vouchers, and ledger cards.
  • Compiles payroll data and prepares payrolls.
  • Operates office machines such as computing, calculating, and check writing devices.
