About The Position

This role plays a critical role in supporting, optimizing, and enhancing the company’s financial systems and related business processes. This position acts as a key liaison between Finance, IT, and other business stakeholders to ensure financial systems are accurate, efficient, scalable, and aligned with organizational objectives. The role is responsible for analyzing financial data flows, maintaining and improving financial applications, supporting system integrations, and driving continuous improvements in reporting, controls, and automation. The Financial Systems Analyst contributes to system implementations, upgrades, and enhancements while ensuring data integrity, compliance, and operational effectiveness across Quarterhill’s financial platforms. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting and finance principles combined with technical expertise in financial systems, data analysis, and process optimization. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive, with the ability to translate business requirements into effective system solutions that support informed decision-making and long-term business growth.

Requirements

  • Basic Accounting Knowledge
  • Foundational understanding of accounting principles (e.g., debits and credits). Introductory coursework or equivalent practical experience is sufficient.
  • Basic SQL
  • Ability to write basic SQL queries to support data analysis and corrective data updates. Advanced PL/SQL can be learned on the job.
  • Microsoft Excel Proficiency
  • Strong Excel skills are required. The role relies heavily on Excel for analysis, reconciliations, and creation of professional, presentation-ready artifacts.
  • Basic Git Knowledge
  • Familiarity with Git for managing and updating system configuration files.
  • knoweldge of trial balance, account payable, general ledger

Nice To Haves

  • VBA (Nice to Have)
  • Experience with VBA is a plus and may be used to automate reconciliation and reporting processes.

Responsibilities

  • Project Management
  • Maintain requirements documents with accurate versioning throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work to the project plan for all deliverables including daily time tracking to project codes.
  • Participate in project status meetings to ensure coordination and to raise issues/concerns/risks.
  • Analyze and track statement of work / contract items through the life of the project.
  • Systems Expertise
  • Strive to become a Subject Matter Expert in the tolling industry and our system functionality.
  • Facilitate process and technology discussions and action planning across functional groups.
  • Participate in training and mentoring efforts of project team members in areas of identified expertise.
  • Support the development team in translating business requirements into technical design.
  • Triage system issues to aid the development team in understanding issues and prioritization.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
  • Participate in and meticulously document internal and customer kickoff meetings and requirement workshops.
  • Work directly with external customers and internal team members to negotiate and translate: scope of work items into workflow diagrams, system requirements, operational requirements and use cases.
  • Reconcile conflicting information, identify potential risks, and accomplish requirements approval through excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Continually adjust individual priorities as team and project priorities change.
  • Meet multiple deadlines and respond to multiple requests for support.
  • Support quality assurance efforts to translate use cases into test cases.
  • Support customer training.
