About The Position

The Financial Analyst position at Dartmouth College is a critical role that involves overseeing the integrity and compliance of day-to-day non-collections financial transactions. This includes processing corrections of errors, handling purchase orders and payment requests, and initiating non-collections contracts within the contract management system. The Financial Analyst will track these contracts throughout their lifecycle, approve certain financial transactions, and conduct in-depth financial transaction analyses either independently or at the direction of the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer (CFAO). This position requires a high level of attention to detail and accuracy, as well as sound judgment and problem-solving skills to interpret, apply, and recommend changes to policies, practices, and procedures. In addition to transaction oversight, the Financial Analyst will develop internal financial processes and policies in collaboration with the CFAO. This includes making recommendations on financial structures and organization, assisting in the development of annual budgets, and supplying data and analysis related to bargaining negotiations and ongoing union contract implementation. The role also involves advising and training staff on various financial processes, including the use of iExpense forms, financial eforms, and budget management for departments and programs. The Financial Analyst will prepare payroll changes, review and correct payroll transactions, and work with staff and student supervisors to resolve timecard issues. They will also collaborate with grant principal investigators to develop draft budgets, manage awarded budgets, and provide transaction reports. The position requires cross-training with other Finance & Administration staff to ensure effective communication and direction to Dartmouth services and resources. Participation in committees and task forces, as well as continuous professional development, is also expected to keep up with the evolving financial systems and policies at Dartmouth College.
