From college students and early-career engineers to project managers, corporate executives, researchers, and academic leaders, ASME's members are as diverse as the engineering community itself. ASME is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Financial Analyst to support financial operations across the organization. This role participates in a broad range of activities, including financial reporting, forecasting, operational analysis, project management, and continuous process improvement. The Financial Analyst will develop high-quality presentations and reports to support decision-making for both staff and volunteer leadership, while building strong relationships with internal business partners to guide budgeting, reporting, and financial planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field required
  • 2–5 years of experience preparing and analyzing financial statements
  • Strong analytical skills with a solutions-oriented mindset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines in a collaborative environment
  • Financial statement preparation and variance analysis
  • GAAP disclosures and accrual accounting concepts
  • Business intelligence tools and reconciliations
  • Process documentation and improvement
  • Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, macros)
  • Financial reporting and database systems
  • Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly financial reports
  • Support annual planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes
  • Conduct variance analysis to identify key financial and operational drivers
  • Partner cross-functionally to support financial reporting and business analysis
  • Develop operational and business intelligence reports to support strategic planning
  • Lead or support process improvement and documentation initiatives
  • Support project management and tracking for finance-related initiatives
  • Assist in the implementation and optimization of financial systems
  • Present financial findings to both internal stakeholders and larger audiences
