About The Position

University of Colorado Medicine (CU Medicine) is the region’s largest and most comprehensive multi-specialty physician group practice. The CU Medicine team delivers business operations, revenue cycle and administrative services to support the patients of over 4,000 University of Colorado School of Medicine physicians and advanced practice providers. These providers bring their unparalleled expertise at the forefront of medicine to deliver trusted, compassionate health care services at primary and specialty care clinics as well as facilities operated by affiliate hospitals of the University of Colorado. We are seeking a highly motivated Financial Analyst to join our team and support the Department of Pediatrics. Due to the hybrid nature of this role, we will only consider candidates who currently reside in Colorado or those with firm plans to relocate to Colorado. The Financial Analyst will develop/maintain a firm understanding of the complexities and the funds flow between the University of Colorado (CU SOM), CU MEDICINE and CHCO and will provide support to the Manager of Finance in a variety of financial, business and administrative related tasks. The individual in this position will work closely with the Manager of Finance, Section Business Managers, Grant Specialists, faculty, leadership, and other support personal within affiliate organizations as cited above. The Financial Analyst will work within a variety of financial systems and provide support to the Manager in various financial tasks to provide accurate and timely requests for financial data, analysis, projections and various projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, finance or related field; equivalent professional experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree
  • 3-5 yrs progressive experience in accounting, finance or related field, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office proficiency, including PowerBI and Excel
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc Variance Analysis
  • Experience with relational database management systems including SQL.

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile and follow up on CHCO/CU MEDICINE/CU SOM budget variances on a monthly basis for assigned sections
  • Update monthly financial projections
  • Prepare and submit accurate projections to the Manager of Finance as directed for CHCO, CU MEDICINE and CU SOM
  • Approve and oversee the section/department requests for reimbursement, travel, procurement cards, moving expenses, and PO’s/SPO’s
  • Assist with education of faculty and staff about all financial matters for their section(s)
  • Meet with all section business personnel as needed to educate and support understanding of financial issues.
  • Work to develop additional financial analysis tools to be used in the monthly preparation and review of financial information.
  • Prepare a variety of business modeling scenarios for use in the strategic planning process
  • Submit monthly journal entries
  • Work closely with CU SOM payroll coordinators to reconcile monthly payroll/benefits and report any variances.
  • Adhere to all fiscal policies and procedures.
  • Assist with maintenance of fiscal role updates in CU SOM finance and CU marketplace systems.
  • Work closely with CU SOM and CHCO Grants Manager and/or specialists to ensure accurate fiscal management and reporting.
  • Assist with reconciliation requests or requests for data.
  • Work with HR Business Partner as needed to review details of Letter of Offer (LOO)’s.
  • Review start-up templates to update projections as needed.
  • Works with HR Business Manager and Manager during annual salary setting process.
