About The Position

The Financial Analyst will be responsible for supporting the Financial Analytics team in providing regulatory reporting to external agencies and internal management and operational reporting for a growing Property and Casualty Insurance company. The role requires the ability to juggle multiple priorities, with a critical eye for data aberrations and trends and the ability to work well within cross functional teams.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Accounting/Finance required or equivalent education and experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years of analysis work.
  • Must be detailed oriented and organized with the ability to react quickly to internal and external information requests while maintaining data accuracy.
  • Demonstrate strong Excel and SQL skills, experience with Power Query or similar data automation tools preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing deadlines.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future.

  • Insurance industry experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare dashboard type information on insurance and financial metrics monthly and quarterly. This includes loss development, premium, frequency, and severity data, as well as complex loss ratios, premium metrics, pure premium, and policy retention and growth.
  • Summarize financial and operational information for accounting department to use in preparation of journal entries and financial statements.
  • Assist in preparation of annual rate filing submissions.
  • Reconcile financial and operational systems on a regular basis to ensure accuracy.
  • Provide analysis on variances and trends between actual and forecasted data and identify financial performance drivers.
  • Support operational departments with data, graphs, presentations, etc. in preparation for periodic management reviews.
  • Prepare, analyze, and maintain Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund (FHCF) reports, including complex financial and regulatory analyses.
  • Prepare and support complex insurer reporting, including the Market Conduct Annual Statement for Property and Casualty Insurance, premium tax calculations, filings, and related regulatory reporting.
  • Communicate data discrepancies to the Claims department to support statutory reporting and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with additional projects as requested.
