About The Position

This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. Temporary Solutions cannot accommodate dual employment. This position will provide support to the Finance and Accounting section of The Division of Health Benefits (DHB). The Financial Analyst will assist with redistribution of work, ensure backup coverage for time-sensitive functions, and protect the accuracy and timeliness of high-stakes financial deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, banking, finance, business administration, economics, or related discipline from an accredited institution and 1 year of directly related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working within the State of North Carolina financial or procurement processes is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in large enterprises or governmental financial systems (preferably NCFS, NCAS, or similar ERP-based accounting systems) with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel for financial tracking, reconciliation, and data validation (sorting, filtering, formulas, pivot tables preferred).
  • Experience reviewing and validating financial coding (general ledger, project, funding source, or cost center).
  • Experience working with invoice processing workflows, purchase orders, and vendor payment lifecycle tracking.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain processing timeliness during high-volume periods (month end, fiscal close, audit prep, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Provide backup support for month-end and quarter-end close activities including journal voucher preparation, cost allocation coordination, and DAC error resolution
  • Assist with federal reporting preparation and data validation and documentation support
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions including invoice coding validation, payment processing, and vendor coordination
  • Perform weekly and monthly financial reconciliations between NCTracks, SIMS, and NCFS systems to ensure data integrity and identify discrepancies
  • Support general ledger maintenance including journal vouchers, reclassifications, account validations, and coding accuracy reviews
  • Assist with contract encumbrance tracking, PO lifecycle monitoring, and expenditure analysis using state financial systems
  • Generate financial reports and compile supporting documentation for audit readiness and compliance requirements
  • Research and resolve transaction errors, system exceptions, and financial discrepancies across multiple platforms
  • Participate in cross-training activities to provide flexible coverage during team absences and transition periods
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with DHB, DHHS, CMS, and Office of the Controller requirements
