About The Position

Join our General Ledger (GL) team in an entry‑level Financial Analyst role, partnering closely with Senior Analysts on a variety of meaningful and high‑impact projects.

Requirements

  • 30 mos. exp. or 30 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an intermediate level of experience in spreadsheet software.
  • Or completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, accounting, finance or related field; 6 mos. exp. or 6 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an intermediate level of experience in spreadsheet software.
  • Or 12 mos. exp. as Financial Associate, 66561.
  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
  • NOTE: Successful completion of the Fiscal Academy may be substituted for 4 mos. of required accounting/fiscal experience referenced in this portion of the minimum qualifications.
  • Knowledge of Agency, Division & departmental policies & standard operating procedures; accounting systems & procedures; applicable state &/or federal laws, rules, procedures & standards governing fiscal operations; ERP systems (e.g. OAKS FIN) &/or federal accounting system; purchasing; budgeting; office practices & procedures, human relations, Oracle General Ledger System; State & Federal laws related to accounting; DDA cash reconciliation; ACH; IC; OAKS Daily TB; P30s; weekly warrant interface; general ledger/trial balance; MCOs; ACH Bank; Warrants Issued & Warrants Cancellation Reports; Surplus Self-Insured Employers’ Report, Daily Cash Management
  • Skill in calculator, electronic devices (e.g. computer, tablet, cell phone) & applicable software applications (e.g. spreadsheets, databases, word processing); OAKS BI reporting; Microsoft Office software (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to Critically think, manage time and prioritize tasks, preform variance analysis, define problems, collect & analyze data, establish facts & draw valid conclusions; prepare &/or edit financial reports, records, &/or correspondence; gather, collate & classify information about data, people or things; concentrate with attention to detail; deal with many variables & determine specific action; collaborate with co-workers on group projects; respond to confidential & sensitive inquiries from employees, public & government officials; add, subtract, multiply & divide whole numbers, fractions, decimals & percentages; conduct financial analyses; prepare journal entries & reconciliations; create financial statements; prepare reports in narrative & graphical formats; communicate clearly in writing & verbally; plan & organize multiple tasks; work independently; deal with large number of technical variables to determine premium & cash projections; prepare financial statements for review; create documentation for monthly financial statements.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of preparing daily bank and other account reconciliations to support accurate and timely financial operations.
  • Prepare journal entries for an assigned fund using the Oracle GL system, contributing to the monthly GAAP‑basis financial statements and overall financial integrity.
  • Examine and analyze financial data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established reporting and procedural standards.
  • Apply strong critical‑thinking skills to manage time effectively, prioritize multiple tasks, solve problems, and draw clear, well‑supported conclusions.
