The Financial Analyst will be responsible for budget development and monitoring, financial reporting and compliance, data analysis and forecasting, billing and contracts collaboration, grant and contract support, and operational support. This role involves assisting in the preparation, monitoring, and management of annual budgets for child development centers, ensuring compliance with financial requirements, and providing financial guidance to site directors and program managers.

  • Assist in preparation, monitoring, and management of annual budgets for all child development centers.
  • Incorporate enrollment forecasts, staffing plans, and operational needs into budget projections.
  • Track budget variances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for CDC leadership, Board of Directors, and external funders.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and grantor financial requirements, including Child Development Grants (CDG), Head Start, and other funding sources.
  • Maintain accurate records for audits and funding reviews.
  • Analyze tuition revenue, subsidy reimbursements, staffing costs, and program expenses.
  • Prepare enrollment-based financial projections and long-term scenario analyses.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses of programs, services, and proposed initiatives.
  • Partner with the Billing and Contracts team to reconcile tuition, subsidy reimbursements, and program funding streams.
  • Monitor contract billing activity to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with funder requirements.
  • Support contract review processes by providing cost analyses and expenditure reports.
  • Assist in the development of financial systems and procedures to improve billing efficiency and revenue tracking.
  • Assist with fiscal management of child development grants and contracts.
  • Monitor expenditures to ensure allowable costs and compliance with funding terms.
  • Collaborate with grant writers and program staff to prepare budgets for proposals.
  • Provide financial guidance to site directors and program managers.
  • Support payroll allocations, cost allocations, and fee-for-service analysis.
  • Evaluate program efficiency and profitability using cost accounting method.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • At least 2 years of related financial analysis experience, preferably in nonprofit, education, or child development programs.
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP, audit standards, and budgetary controls.
  • Strong knowledge of grant funding compliance and cost allocation principles.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, accounting software, and database management.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present financial data to non-financial audiences.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must pass background check, fingerprint clearance, and drug test.
  • Valid California driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish (preferred).
