About The Position
The Financial Analyst position at the University of Texas at Austin is a vital role within the Payroll Services department, which is responsible for managing payroll for approximately 29,000 employees. This position is designed to provide a work-life balance with a standard 40-hour work week and flexible work arrangements. The Financial Analyst will be tasked with payroll administration, accounting, compliance, reporting, and analysis specifically for the State of Texas and UT System Retirement programs. The role involves ensuring compliance with federal, state, and university laws and guidelines, as well as providing customer support to employees, retirees, and various departments. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the university community by enhancing the student experience through effective payroll management. In this role, the Financial Analyst will administer the Teacher Retirement System of Texas, the Optional Retirement Program, and other voluntary retirement programs. Responsibilities include preparing monthly accounting closeout journal entries, analyzing contributions to ensure compliance with IRS plan limits, and processing necessary adjustments. The analyst will also support payroll processing for retirement program deductions and work collaboratively with various departments to resolve payroll issues. Additionally, the position requires the reconciliation of retirement accounts to ensure financial integrity and accuracy of employee records, as well as the documentation and updating of business processes and procedures. The Financial Analyst will be expected to recommend initiatives to improve business processes and assist in the design and implementation of new systems.
