About The Position

As the Financial Analyst – Financial Reporting, you will serve as MSF’s key accounting expert, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and transparency of our financial statements. Your work directly supports MSF’s financial stewardship and long-term stability, helping us fulfill our mission to protect Montana’s workforce. This is a role for someone who thrives on precision, analytical depth, and cross-functional collaboration. You will coordinate MSF’s financial reporting processes, oversee the general ledger and accounting structure, and provide strategic insights that inform organizational decision-making. Your expertise will help shape MSF’s financial narrative and ensure compliance with both statutory and GASB accounting standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Three (3) years professional work experience in accounting or financial reporting.
  • Ability to effectively use technology and digital tools to perform work tasks, solve problems, and communicate, i.e. digital competency.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA designation
  • Experience within the insurance industry.
  • Experience performing technical accounting research.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee MSF’s quarterly financial reporting process to produce timely and accurate financial statements and accompanying reports on both a statutory and GASB accounting basis.
  • Oversee MSF’s accounting structure, general ledger, and financial internal controls with a goal of continuous improvement.
  • Prepare internal financial projections, financial statement narratives, and presentations for use by MSF management and MSF’s Board of Directors.
  • Coordinate the completion of annual, independent financial statement audits on both statutory and GASB accounting bases.
  • Employ a strategic mindset to identify insights regarding MSF’s financial condition, trends and developments, and long-term trajectory.
  • Participate on cross-functional teams as financial subject matter expert as needed.
  • Foster engagement within yourself and the Finance & Actuary team.
  • Promote a customer experience mindset.
  • Provide advice and mentorship to other members of the team.
  • Review and approve the work of other members of the team as needed
