About The Position

As a Capital Markets Group Analyst at Avison Young, you'll be a vital member of the Capital Markets team, providing crucial support for commercial real estate debt, equity, and investment sales transactions. Your primary role will be to conduct in-depth financial analysis, due diligence, and market research to support the firm's Producers and Directors. This position is ideal for an analytically-minded professional seeking to develop expertise in real estate finance, gain exposure to complex deal structures, and contribute directly to the successful execution of high-value transactions. The base salary is aligned with market data and is estimated between $70,000 to $77,000 with the ability to achieve additional compensation through bonus. This salary range reflects base compensation for the position across all US locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and other factors including relevant education/training, experience, and internal equity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Real Estate, Economics, or a related quantitative field is required.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in commercial real estate analysis, investment banking, or financial services.
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial modeling is essential. Strong proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word is also required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to present complex financial data clearly and concisely.
  • Highly organized, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deliverables under tight deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with real estate software (e.g., Argus Enterprise, CoStar) is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models (including cash flow analysis, leveraged and unleveraged returns, and sensitivity tables) for a variety of commercial property types (e.g., office, industrial, multi-family, retail).
  • Assist Producers in the preparation of Offering Memorandums, financing proposals, pitch books, and other marketing materials used to secure debt, equity, and close investment sales.
  • Coordinate and manage the due diligence process, including compiling and reviewing financial statements, operating expenses, legal documents, and third-party reports (e.g., appraisals, environmental assessments).
  • Conduct in-depth research on local and national capital markets trends, including lender appetite, interest rate environments, cap rate movements, and investor demand, to inform client strategy.
  • Help manage and track communications with potential lenders, equity partners, and purchasers throughout the transaction lifecycle.
  • Maintain and update internal databases with transaction data and comparable sales/financing information.
  • and of course, other duties as assigned.
