About The Position

The Financial Analyst and Asst. Hedge Coordinator will play a key role in managing Schupan’s exposure to metal markets by executing trades, monitoring inventory and pricing, and supporting key financial processes. This position sits at the intersection of trading, risk management, and financial analysis, offering broad exposure to both domestic and international operations.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Excel and financial modeling (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, Economics, or related field (highly preferred)
  • 2+ years of experience in materials trading, accounting, risk management or another related field (highly preferred)
  • Prior experience with P&L reviews and forecasting exposure (highly preferred)
  • Background in commodities, futures, or hedging (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Execute trades across futures and commodity markets to manage exposure to metal prices
  • Communicate real-time market pricing and levels to traders throughout the day
  • Monitor the pricing desk email for customer pricing requests, ensuring accurate and timely communication of final pricing and markets to customers
  • Provide divisional controller with reconciliations for any payments sent or received during the month
  • Track and manage open hedge positions, verifying Schupan’s books align with counterparties
  • Collaborate with the divisional controller on hedge accruals, balance sheet gain/loss management, and month-end close
  • Monitor and report on international in-transit inventory
  • Prepare and deliver domestic and international margin reporting and cost analysis (mid-month, on-demand, and month-end)
  • Perform month-end tie-outs of international margins
  • Track import inventory daily
  • Review freight expenses and accruals at month-end
  • Monitor international customer advances and prepayments monthly
  • Support Kentucky plant processing reviews and end-of-month cost analysis
  • Assist with international marketing forecasts (monthly and annual)
  • Monitor domestic outside processing inventory and costs
  • Interact in person with peers and the public
  • Handle high stress situations
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
