About The Position

The Senior Fund Manager for Gift & Commitments at UCLA's School of Education and Information Studies plays a crucial role in overseeing financial analysis, reporting, and management of gifts and endowments. Reporting directly to the Assistant Dean of Finance/CFO, this position is responsible for ensuring the proper allocation and tracking of financial commitments, developing budgets, and providing strategic recommendations to enhance the utilization of school resources. The role requires collaboration with various departments to implement financial policies and best practices, ensuring compliance and effective management of funds.

Requirements

  • Advanced working knowledge of accounting principles and computerized purchasing and accounts payable systems in a large university setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in accounting and business practices for financial guidance.
  • Advanced knowledge in creating financial reports for trend analyses and forecasts.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and maintain professional relationships.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills for effective information conveyance.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple project budgets and synthesize data effectively.
  • Strong written communication skills for drafting correspondence and policy communication.
  • Ability to independently validate expectations and problem-solve obstacles.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks and work with interruptions.
  • Advanced knowledge of policies and procedures in higher education institutions.
  • Proficiency in operating Macintosh and PC computers with advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct advanced financial analysis and post-audit reviews of all school Gift & Endowment (G&E) and internal/external commitments.
  • Prepare financial reports related to G&E and commitments for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop budgets, expenditure reports, projections, and trend analyses with recommendations to the Assistant Dean/CFO.
  • Resolve financial issues and perform fiscal year-end closing actions related to G&E and commitments.
  • Manage and process gifts and endowments using the Consolidated fund management system.
  • Oversee dean and campus level commitments, ensuring proper allocation and tracking.
  • Initiate and implement school-wide financial policies and best practices in collaboration with stakeholders.
