About The Position

The Financial Aid Specialist at Georgia Military College is responsible for administering various financial aid programs, including federal, state, and institutional aid. This role involves ensuring compliance with financial aid regulations, processing applications, and serving as a resource for multiple campuses and students. The specialist will also lead a team of Financial Aid Assistants and contribute to achieving processing goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (minimum requirement).
  • 3 years of Financial Aid experience (minimum requirement).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Ellucian, and Perceptive (minimum requirement).

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in a relevant field (preferred).
  • 5 years of Financial Aid experience (preferred).
  • Experience with CampusLogic and GA Futures (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct verification on selected Department of Education files to ensure compliance with federal guidelines.
  • Examine financial data to determine student financial aid eligibility.
  • Coordinate and send notifications regarding applications and missing documentation.
  • Originate federal and private student loans and process response records.
  • Analyze system-generated reports to verify compliance and notify students of changes in eligibility.
  • Communicate with all GMC campuses regarding file progress and issues.
  • Serve as a resource for campuses on financial aid processes and problem-solving.
  • Consult with internal offices and external agencies to resolve financial aid issues.
  • Import Institutional Student Information Records (ISIR) into Datatel daily.
  • Implement automated financial aid management systems for student award packaging.
  • Work with the Business Office and Georgia Student Finance Commission to resolve state errors in awarding grants and scholarships.
  • Determine eligibility for the Federal Work-Study program and oversee its administration.
  • Process Federal Work Study timesheets and monitor eligibility limits.
  • Award Dual Enrollment Program funds to eligible students.
  • Maintain updated knowledge of financial aid programs and regulations through conferences and workshops.
  • Manage the centralized FAHelp email account and respond to correspondence.
  • Process and distribute various financial aid reports.
