About The Position
The Financial Aid Specialist I role at Southern New Hampshire University is a technical position within the Financial Aid Operations team, requiring a comprehensive understanding of the financial aid life cycle. This position is crucial for ensuring that loans, grants, and scholarships are processed accurately and in compliance with federal and state regulations. The specialist will be responsible for evaluating student eligibility for various forms of financial aid, including federal and private loans, institutional grants, and scholarships. This role demands a keen attention to detail and the ability to troubleshoot complex eligibility issues, ensuring that all financial aid transactions are executed efficiently and in accordance with institutional policies. In this position, the specialist will perform a variety of tasks including Return to Title IV Funds calculations, Pell Recalculation, and the origination and certification of loans. The role also involves generating and analyzing system-generated data to verify student compliance and eligibility for financial aid. The specialist will communicate with students regarding changes in their eligibility and provide alternatives to address any issues that arise. Additionally, the role requires troubleshooting technical issues related to the COD system and Colleague software, as well as identifying and resolving discrepancies in student information. The Financial Aid Specialist I will also play a significant role in process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the efficiency and automation of financial aid processes. This includes leveraging various systems and software to streamline operations and ensure accurate data management. The position reports to the Associate Director of Financial Aid and is based in Manchester, NH, with a hybrid work model requiring regular commuting to the office.
