About The Position

The Financial Aid Manager will report to the Director of Financial Aid. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Financial Aid Manager will be responsible for the following duties: + Support the Director in managing the day-to-day operations of the Financial Aid Office, with a focus on ensuring high-quality, timely, and effective student service. + Oversee the administration of the Federal Pell Grant, TEACH Grant, and Federal SEOG programs, including staff training, awarding processes, and record auditing to ensure regulatory compliance. + Implement and monitor best practices in financial aid operations, maintaining full compliance with federal, state, and CUNY regulations-particularly those governing Pell, SEOG, and TEACH programs. + Ensure staff are effectively trained to advise students holistically, empowering them to maximize available financial aid resources and improve financial literacy. + Collaborate with the Enrollment Management and Communications team to develop and execute an automated communication strategy that informs students about financial aid, identifies at-risk populations, and supports student retention initiatives. + Develop and manage data queries and reporting tools to support internal auditing, compliance reviews, and data-informed decision-making. + Supervise the verification process, assigning student files to counselors, auditing for accuracy, and ensuring appropriate use of professional judgment in complex cases. + Represent the Director of Financial Aid in meetings across the college and the broader CUNY ystem, contributing to policy development and interdepartmental collaboration

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • six years' related experience

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Higher education, Data analytics, Accounting, or related field.
  • Exemplary communication skills with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience and comfortability presenting financial aid information to large audiences of student stakeholders, not limited to parents, students, faculty, and college leadership.
  • Deep understanding of all financial aid best practices in federal, state, and merit scholarship- based aid.
  • Track record of strong supervisory experience and a commitment to the professional development of staff along with an ability to provide honest and constant professional feedback to staff while upholding standards of excellence.
  • Experience with Peoplesoft (or similar student information system), CRM technologies, and EAB Navigate.
  • Familiarity with the most recent methods of data collection, research methodologies, and web-based technology as it relates to financial aid; and be able to adapt to changing environments, technology, policies, legislation, and the needs of the students.
  • Be available for occasional evenings and weekends.
