About The Position

The Financial Aid Counselor at the University of Hartford is responsible for counseling and advising students and their families on financial aid programs and opportunities. This role involves adhering to federal and state laws related to financial aid administration and supporting the University's mission through effective execution of duties that contribute to the education of students.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree or Two Year equivalent required.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups.

Responsibilities

  • Counsel and advise students and families on financial aid programs and opportunities.
  • Collect, review, and evaluate FAFSA results and supporting documentation to determine eligibility for financial aid programs.
  • Perform needs analysis and verification in accordance with federal regulations and University policy.
  • Monitor recipients' satisfactory academic progress according to federal regulations and University requirements.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external constituencies.
  • Process PLUS and alternate loans, post scholarships, and other forms of financial aid from outside entities.
  • Analyze eligibility criteria and appropriate distributions proactively.
  • Collaborate with the Bursar's Office to maintain an accurate audit trail of all transactions.
  • Assist the Office of Admission at various on-campus recruitment functions.
  • Develop and maintain outreach programs regarding financial aid for students, families, and the community.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
