About The Position
The Financial Aid Counselor/Student Loan Coordinator at Livingstone College plays a crucial role in the administration of financial aid, working under the supervision of the Associate VP of Financial Aid. This position involves a comprehensive range of responsibilities, including counseling students about financial aid eligibility, determining their needs, and processing loans. The counselor will provide essential information to both prospective and current students in a fast-paced team environment, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations as well as institutional policies. In this role, the Financial Aid Counselor will utilize judgment and problem-solving skills to award financial aid to students, follow up on incomplete or missing financial aid information, and verify details for students selected for verification. The counselor will also be responsible for reporting necessary information and changes through the Department of Education information systems, modifying financial aid packages based on enrollment changes or additional funding, and effectively communicating these changes to students. Additionally, the counselor will represent the financial aid department at various special events, including high school college nights, orientations, and financial literacy workshops. This position requires a strong commitment to providing superior customer service and the ability to relate well with a diverse student population, ensuring that all students receive the support they need to navigate their financial aid options.
